You said I have become a grown up girl

person standing in pathway

I remember that sweet lavender dawn

you looked at me across the room

you were thinking I was still that little girl

who cried over all the pain and gloom

Ah yes that sweet little girl is still here

but she is not afraid and her heart is free

By God’s grace she has grown into a woman

and can face each path with eyes that clearly see…

We have traveled far, that little girl and I

We have danced and died, laughed and cried

We have known romance and reality

We remember and forget, we dream and sigh…

I love that little girl and the woman she became

she could always spot a faker and call a spade a spade

She is me and I am she woven and spun by God

We travel well together upon this earthly sod…

You said I had become a grown up girl

and what you say is true

This grown up girl is a woman now

and has no need of you…

Wanted to Dance on the boulevard

photo of lighthouse on seaside during daytime

I wanted to Dance on the boulevard but the pavement was cold and hard.
I wanted to be a Noble laureate but the elite intellect was indeed not art.
I wanted to preach to move the masses but they laughed at Godly wisdom.
So now I just want to live in quiet peace with the Truth that I’ve been given.
A flicker flame to a small dark house.
A small ray of sun on a cloudy day.
A log of fire to keep away the chill.
Or a keeper of The Holy Light that may light another’s way.

Sweetest Hallelujah

These small child’s hand prints on my glass backdoor

the sticky applesauce and popsicle on my kitchen floor

I wouldn’t trade for all the mansions in this world.

These conversations with my daughters

the new territories in this journey

I wouldn’t miss for all the fame this world could offer

These days I count as precious gems

to the road that leads me found the bend

I will simply give my sweetest Hallelujah

Everybody moving blindly forward…

school of fish

Everybody moving blindly forward, like fish in a shoal

How long have we been losing touch with our souls?

Everybody hating what they can not  understand

We surely did not gain good from the knowledge of evil

We surely forsook the only wise God and Creator

We tried to be our own gods but could not do it better

I know this is not how the story ends for His image bearers

I know the Master Writer’s plan can not be thwarted

Let it be oh Lord I pray  our Faith be made sight today

The emptiness of my conceit and arrogance…

photo of river during daytime

As I sat in the still and In the mess

In the emptiness of my own conceit and arrogance

The old man with white hair said,

“these are your thorns to bear…”

When the only free person in the room

Is the one who is in chains

Then it is time to look at what man calls “justice”

Pontius Pilate could not deny his claims

It is in vulnerability that God’s Grace comes

It is in the mourning that the Grief is fulfilled

It is in the freedom of Truth that I want to run

It is in humility that true courage is spilled

Proverbs of a Foolish Man

pexels-photo-279815.jpeg
from freight trains to Ferraris
cigarette butts in the gutter to Cuban cigars
wanted to go home so many times
but it was just too damn hard…
hidden in the desert rock and sailed the Aegean sea
scrounged like a pauper and feasted like a King
ran and ran as fast as I could
but still could not get away from me…
she deserved a better man than me
she is the whole of good and light as can be
gripped all my shame then threw it in her face
and she rose above it as she walked on in grace…
These are the Proverbs of a foolish man
Please hear this and then walk another way
Avoid the Proverbs of this foolish man
the price is much too high to pay…

Oh how all the Kings have fallen

Oh how all the Kings have fallen

From their high and lofty thrones!

The white Knights are soiled with black death

none of them call upon Almighty God!

All the people lie constantly so the innocents die

Their evil makes a mockery of Almighty God!

Oh if only they would cry from deep hearts

and give up their ego and selfish ways!

I, Almighty God have made a way to redeem them

Only I have saved them with my own right hand!

I desire mercy and compassion above all else

I, Almighty God have spoken for all to hear!

Summer Sun

selective focus photography of grass

The summer sun is baking the side walks and streets.
The Texas horizon looks like a melting mirage.
Summer solstice has arrived and a few things never change.
Even in the shade it is one hundred degrees.
My grandchildren have begun their love affair with the sprinkler and popsicles.
In the backyard with their parents.
And wonderful cool sheets for an afternoon nap.
And all is right with my world today and I am grateful.

Southern Comfort Nights

full-moon-moon-night-sky-53153.jpeg

June bugs buzzing round the front porch light

hot sweet humidity on a southern comfort night…

Smell of sweet drugstore perfume

just waiting for a boy to notice or amuse

So innocent was the Muse…

Texas summer nights not far from big city lights

all the stars in her eyes on sweet southern comfort nights
