Long Been Running

I have long been running toward that Morning light

trying so hard to be the holy one with all my might

Then you whisper in my ear, “Peace, be still.”

I have long been kneeling in that Cathedral in the sand

trying so hard to form my self into a holy jar

Then you whisper in my ear, “I am the Potter.”

I have long been wading in that River of life

desperate to drink the holy water that cleans

Then you whisper in my ear, “I am the water that never ends.”

No I lay me down on the Alter of Holy Rest

Trust my hands to the maker of all that grows

and drink every drop form the River of Life…

oh how Peaceful it is to “be still and know.”

My One and Only…

The end of the day, that hour where the Sun keeps her promise of love

Before the day is done, I love to sit quietly with you.

The crickets start their humming song and the dusk is full of the coos of a dove.

These sweet sights and sounds  are the day saying goodbye as night ensues.

I am reminded that the designer of these miracles is You.

I am reminded that you want to be my one and only.

Your Faithfulness is shown by your Mercy that you are Worthy

To hold this day and all my days in your arms.

I was in your Yesterday

I was in your Yesterday.

I used up a lifetime there.

Unworldly hearts beating away,

But then nobody cared.

At least it seemed that way.

I was in your Yesterday.

I believed in fairy tales too.

I thought there was an evermore,

but I left your Yesterday.

Indigo blue velvet…

indigo blue velvet, a deeper love

blue-grey eyes, a storm at sea

white diamond stars pierce the sky

blood red heart, beating in me

midnight black, dreams stir the dark

old clock chiming for what will be

body warmth, a baby’s breath away

coral sunrise, a new day flies free

Sweet Eyes

I was looking for a man just like you

but that man was not a runner.

I was looking for a man just like you

but that man was not a Film Flam man.

Just like you but did not tell lies

Just like you but wanted ties

A man like you took my heart away

A man that pretended dreams were true

A man like you who fooled us all

Yes, my sweet eyes were looking for a man

But He was never you.

The Drum Keeps Pounding…

Kill or be killed.

How can a baby tell?

How can the government know your heart?

How can the abuse drum on?

Politicians poison consistently flows.

The children all die inside and out!

Kill or be killed.

Who made you this way?

Beat the drum until all is in ruin.

Drums pounding our sanity away!

The world’s words…

black smoke coming from fire

The World’s words cannot clothe themselves in peace.

All of this death has a life to each.

Millions of human lives taken cannot be a number.

A child is playing in her yard, daddy taken away by war.

Common sense is a safe boundary no more.

The road seems shorter than it was before.

Countries are convulsing insanity roars.

Letters tied in yellowed ribbon rotted to the core.

These words lack weight and I close the door.

She Took Her Love

person soaking on body of water

She took her love to walk awhile beneath a crescent moon

While they gazed upon the quicksilver in the stars

She told him she had lost her way among the sandy dunes

But the tide had brought her back again from somewhere very far

She took her love to sail awhile upon the indigo night sea

While they caressed the salty thick spray upon their faces

She told him she had found her way among the sand and sea

And that God had made her his own among these ocean places
