Even the dried saltwater on the stones…

green grass during sunset

Every part is beautiful.

Every wave is different.

Every seashell my passioned treasure.

Every color of blue and green soothes my soul.

There is music in the rolling of water to shore.

The seagulls sing harmony in a minor key.

The eastern morning sun rises like Heaven’s coda.

The sunset in the West a goodnight lullaby from God.

I kiss the sea oats whispering secrets to the dunes.

I love even the dried saltwater upon the pathway stones.

I am a Texas girl through and through,

but my Florida beach is the place I have to return to.

A tether, a life line in it’s order to refuel and renewal.

Just me, God, and the salty sea, my triage

It is all a gift of dreams to me that I gratefully adore

City Girl Angel

woman wearing wings

He said he could never forget his city girl angel

under the silver moon of the Lone Star state

A fast moving Angel with lightening in her eyes

she could never abide anyone being fake

She loves the deep blue sea and the endless Texas sky

She is not a big crier but doesn’t like goodbyes

Sunday morning Allelujahs  clear through Saturday night

She is his city girl angel with honey in her smile

He said no one can forget his city girl angel

She is kind and funny and wild

So the night she died on that Texas highway

She simply smiled at him and took her flight

River Song

The River Song shall make us glad

when the mountain’s snows melt above.

The swelling waters giving drink below

it’s melody quenching our thirst for love.

The River Song shall lead us homeward bound

where heaven and earth can never meet

Here we shall find His Kindness all around

it’s melody reveals the hope we keep.

So take me down to the River

Take me there where I may also sing

Of the beauty of your Holiness

And worship you as my King.

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Romans 5:5 NLT

The Boulevard of Paper Chains

black and white photo of man with umbrella

There are no more people on the boulevard

they have been locked away with paper chains

The humans became a commodity in exchange

the Truth has been lost in the game…

God have mercy on the boulevard

Bring your children home

Do not let these paper chains

bind our hearts stone cold…

The Steeple Green

She ran away with fear and a string of lies
She idolized her anger but could not hide it in her eyes
She grew up kneeling upon the steeple green
She grew so weary of trying to be clean

One day on her knees again she heard The Holy voice
“Rise up, my daughter walk away from this noise.”
She stood up and cast those idols back to hell
And tore off the string of lies she had to tell

“I have made you blameless and set you free in life
why do you still cling to death which can never be clean?”
She cried for joy and danced before the LORD God
and chose life that day upon the steeple green.

To Him who is able to keep us from falling and to present us before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy…to the only Wise God our Savior be glory, majesty, power AND authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. Jude 1:24

Racing me to Dawn

The heat hung in the air like wet cotton today.

The Texas dance of August has begun.

The manicured lawns will all soon be patched brown.

Even the humming of cicadas has gone still.

Venus burns ever so brightly racing me to dawn.

The majestic Oaks stand still as Centurion guards.

At my core the keen edge of Joy bids me come.

I reach for the poetry that fills my heart.

Night So Long

I think I missed my cue

in the seismic gap between us.

The drama is widening it all the while.

There is a rawness in your eyes

burning ashes fill the sky.

The midnight train is passing by

is this my cue to cry?

A night so long and you move on

and I never say goodbye.

Early on We are taught…

Early on we are taught

Time is all we’ve got

and then we learn it’s not…

Grief comes to call

at some point

for us all, it’s true…

In the bubble of our backyard

we grow not knowing fear, it’s true

Dad is a super hero, Mom is always near…

Now we know those still waters

let us grow, it’s true

no one can take that love from you.

Now we are old

and we know Time is brief

like melting snow and falling leaves…

In the meaning of it all

we learn Time means nothing at all

It is  love that is never small, it’s true

Her Daddy was a Sheriff

person releasing shotgun shell on shotgun

Her Daddy was a Sheriff  and his Deputy was her son.

She was more afraid of church folks than she was afraid of guns.

Her husband ran off for his moonshine and she was left alone and shunned.

Until one night on a full moon her mind became undone.

She awoke from a dream and in her bed was her Daddy and her son.

They laughed at her clown face where her makeup had all run.

So she grabbed the Sheriff’s shotgun

and fired and killed her son.

The Deputy died in the arms of his Father’s by his very own gun.

The next day she saddled her horse and rode away in the peace of the rising sun
