There is a heavy dark night in the city
How far has it fallen, this velvet black lie?
There is an agony unspoken, a groaning of pity
How high is the price and what is the prize?
The children are crying and kneel down to pray
The old ones can no longer see daylight dawn
The church hymn is ringing out “Trust and Obey.”
It seems we have lost and that Jesus is gone
Oh but this heavy dark night cannot extinguish His light!
This web of evil must once more bow down!
For the High King of Heaven still rules both day and night
In Him Salvation can always be found!
